Notes
General:
Joseph Napoleon was called Poly by his family. He was a miner in Victor Colorado when Charles Lyle was born. In 1919 he family was living in Montrose when Poly died of "miner's consumption" which is a name for any number of lung ailments that are caused by inhaled the dust in mines.
In August 1899 the entire business district was destroyed in a five-hour fire. The town had about 18,000 residents at the time.[8][11][12] As a result, many of the historic buildings date to 1899, including the St. Victor Roman Catholic church, the First Baptist Church of Victor, and the Victor Hotel. (Quoted from Wikipedia)
I have often wondered if the family was in Victor at the time of the fire. Charles was born in May of 1899. He would have been about threed monhs old at the time.
